Neighborhoods that are
directly involved with Dove send representatives to the Area Project
Board. To be a part of Dove and this board, a group must
have set boundaries, select officers, set goals and part of those
goals must be to have activities for youth and a focus on prevention
services for youth. APB meets every month on the 3rd
Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., at 302 S. Union, Decatur. Representatives
discuss the successes in their neighborhoods and issues they are
currently dealing with. Funding for neighborhood initiatives and
are granted on a yearly basis. This funding comes from the
Illinois
Department of Human Services (IDHS).
Community Services is a part of the
Illinois Council
of Area Projects (ICAP). Membership is open to local groups who
receive Illinois Department of Human Services community service
funding which are engaged in the work of juvenile delinquency
prevention through the involvement of indigenous residents, organized
as community committees. An Area Project is a body whose purpose
is to develop, manage and provide programs to change social, cultural
and environmental conditions targeting at-risk youth and their
quality of life. Neighborhood representatives and service providers
across Illinois come together to share new ideas and focus on
common goals.
