Do you want to become educated on domestic violence issues? 
      Would you like to learn more on power and control issues?
            The barriers that keep victims from leaving their abuser.
                  The effects of domestic violence on children.
                        The cycle of abuse, and many more topics? 

 If so, please sign up for our upcoming Domestic Violence Education and Training. Some of the ways you could assist us after going through this training are:  hotline coverage, assisting with support groups, assisting with orders of protection, assisting with the needs in the shelter, filing, and children's programming.  We would appreciate the opportunity to introduce you to our program and help you find the right volunteer position for you!  Volunteers are needed in Macon, Moultrie, Shelby and DeWitt County programs.

You must have the following information with you before filling out application:
          Drivers License or other Photo I.D.
          Copy of current AmerenIP heating bill

Program Rules:
Applicant must  reside at address on bill and have active service in his or her name
Applicant can only receive assistance once per heating season (12/1/09-3/31/10)
Must have written documentation of personal or family crisis
Program targeting only customers between 150-200% of poverty, special exception approved by WN executive director
No bill over $750
Matching payments up to $350

2009-2010 -- Must show proof of income
Family Size     30 Day Income Range must be between:
      1                                            $1,354 to $1,805

2                                            $1,821 to $2,428

3                                            $2,289 to $3,052

4                                            $2,756 to $3,675

5                                            $3,224 to $4,298

6                                            $3,691 to $4,922

7                                            $4,159 to $5,545

8                                            $4,626 to $6,168


A grant program (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED) is available to homeowners to help provide security improvements to your home. Examples of improvements are storm doors, exterior security doors, outdoor lights, basement window bars, trimming bushes & trees around your property. Free Tax Preparation Program
 

Free electronic filing of federal and state tax forms. Volunteers from the community will team with accounting students from Millikin University to provide this service to the community.

This free service is provided for families with incomes of less than $50,000 and individuals with an income less than $20,000.  Please remember  to bring all W-2s and 1099s (if any), a picture I.D., social security cards, a copy of your 2008 tax return if available and bank account numbers, copies of your property tax bill if you are a homeowner  and routing number if choosing to direct deposit your refund.
